Deconstructing the Imperial Episteme: Decolonizing Knowledge Production in Program Evaluation

Scholars, practitioners, and activists have all contributed to the discussion of decolonization evaluation practice in recent years as attention has increasingly focused on persistent harms colonization. While these discussions led development frameworks rooted Indigenous locally-situated understandings, values, methods, little been paid colonial origins Western-based practices that continue pervade field. This article seeks contribute conversation about by focusing ways which Western social theory, born colonizing nations, influenced processes Drawing scholars theorists from Global South, this highlights specific apparatuses for dismantling imperial thinking knowing, proposes a path forward evaluators who wish grapple with deeply epistemological roots our field practice.
